The IAPAs take place on the same day as the
IPAF Summit and regularly attract audiences of

Speakers confirmed for
prestigious IPAF Summit
The IPAF Summit that will be held on April 3
in Windsor near London will see top speakers
address topics ranging from how best practice
in the use of powered access equipment can be
applied on jobsites, to accident statistics in the
access industry and how this compares across
other sectors such as aviation.
Confirmed speakers include Bill Plummer,
executive vice-president and chief financial
officer with United Rentals. Presenting together
with Fred Bratman, head of investor relations,
Plummer will review how the access and rental
industries can best connect with investors and
bankers.
Also speaking are Dave Smith, chair of
the UK Contractors Group (UKCG) Health &
Safety Leadership Group and COO of Wates
Construction, one of the UK’s largest contractors,
and David Miller, deputy chief inspector of Air
Accidents at the UK’s Air Accident Investigation
Branch (AAIB).
The UKCG plays an active role in promoting
the safe use of AWPs and Dave Smith will report
on how contractors work to keep AWP use safe
and what they expect of their suppliers. David
Miller will explain how the AAIB investigates air
accidents and compiles accident statistics.
Other speakers will be looking at what
conclusions can be drawn from IPAF’s industry
accident reporting project, how to investigate
accidents, and how best practice can be
translated into reality on the modern job site.

IPAF Council Meeting
The IPAF Council, the Federation’s main governing body, will meet in the morning. This meeting is
open to Council members and by invitation only.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2, EVENING
IPAF Networking Event
This informal networking event will be held at a stylish venue in the vicinity of picturesque Windsor.
This is a great opportunity to meet colleagues and do business in a unique environment. There is
no cost to attend, and the networking event is open to all IPAF members and to people holding a
ticket for the IAPA Awards Dinner. Numbers are limited for this popular event, so be sure to register
early in order to be admitted.

IPAF Annual General Meeting (AGM)

IPAF Summit
The IPAF Summit will be a full day of plenary conference and seminars. Registration and coffee is
at 9:30 a.m. followed at 10 a.m. by breakout sessions; one on aerial work platforms (AWPs) and
one on mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs), that attendees can join.
The plenary session in the afternoon will bring all delegates together and provide them with
valuable take-home messages that contribute toward a professional and safe powered access
industry. The Summit is held in English, with simultaneous translation in Italian and Spanish.
Attendance is free and delegates should register in advance.

International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs)
A spectacular gala dinner and awards ceremony which will take place at the historic and luxurious
Beaumont Estate Hotel in Windsor, the IAPAs celebrate best practice and excellence in the
powered access industry. Attendees can look forward to a first class evening of wining and dining,
along with entertainment and excitement as the award winners are announced. The event is
expected to attract more than 450 guests from around the world.
FRIDAY, APRIL 4, MORNING
Training and site visits
Delegates will have the opportunity to take the MEWPs for Managers training course or to visit
rental depots and construction sites in the vicinity.
The course is targeted at project managers, construction foremen, supervisors and other
personnel who need to manage the use of MEWPs on site. It covers equipment selection, legal
responsibilities, safe and effective use, planning for the use of multiple MEWPs in confined areas,
etc. The course does not include operator training. Candidates take a written test and receive a
certificate of completion if successful.
Tours to access rental companies in the area are being arranged by IPAF. Details will be
released soon.
