Tadano
America has
named
JAY
SHIFFLER
vice
president and
general manager
of marketing. He will direct the
marketing efforts of Tadano
America rough terrain and all
terrain cranes, reporting to Yo
Kakinuma, Tadano
America president.
Shiffler, who has more than
30 years of experience in the
crane business, said, “I am
very excited to return to the
manufacturing realm of the
crane business, where I started
my career.” Shiffler joins Tadano
from Wheco Corp, where he
was vice president of business
development for nine years.

JIMMIE KING,
a heavy haul
truck driver,
rigger and crane
operator at
Florida, USA-
based Bryson Crane Rental
Service, has received a training
and certification scholarship
awarded by the Florida Crane
Owners Council (FCOC).
The scholarship includes a
four day mobile crane operator
classroom and hands on training
certification preparatory course.
The training was donated by
the Crane Institute of America,
Sanford, Florida. King also
received mobile crane operator
certification exams from the
Crane Institute Certification.

With regret IC reports the death of lifelong crane
man
ANDREW BROWN
at the age of 69.
At the end of 2012 Brown retired from a 50 year
career in the crane industry when he finished
work leading the Kobelco Cranes Europe operation
in the UK.
Brown started as an engineering apprentice at Ransomes and
Rapier in Ipswich, UK, in 1961, before transferring to NCK-Rapier
as a sales representative in the UK. He became product manager
when the Ajax, Eiger, Orion and Olympus cranes were developed.
As export manager he then led a drive to sell cranes and walking
draglines worldwide, helping to earn the company its first Queen’s
Award for Export.
At Ruston-Bucyrus in Lincoln, UK, he was a project manager.
Brown joined Kobelco when the UK company was formed in 2000.
He died on 20 November following a battle with cancer.

in Liebherr’s
Maritime Crane division.
