specifications.
HOWDO YOUDETERMINEWHEN TORETIRE
RIGGINGGEAR?
HB:
Our inspections tell us.Any time
someone seeswear and tearordamageon
apieceof rigging that piece is takenout of
service andadecision ismade to restoreor
replace it.
TF:
I’m sureHarrywill agreewithmeon
this.ASME is theBible for inspection
criteriaand replacement. B30.9, B30.2,
andB30.26are all standards you should
be looking to for criteria.
WHAT ABOUTRIGGINGRESTORATION? DOES
YOURCOMPANY EVERRESTORERIGGING? IF
SO, HOW IS IT DONE?
HB:
There are timeswhenwedo, but it
dependson the circumstance.Asneeded,
wewill completelydisassemble a loador
workingblockand rebuild if necessary, or
just cleanand lubricate after a thorough
inspectionprior toplacing thepiece
back in service.We alsobuild engineered
custom spreaderbars forother companies,
soour focusonqualityand safety inwhat
weuseonadailybasis is very important.
We are alsoadistributer for rigginggear
sowekeepour equipment veryup todate.
TONY, ANY THOUGHTSONRIGGINGREPAIROR
RESTORATION?
TF:
Onlyqualified rigging fabricatorswho
have theproper equipment shoulddo
repairor restoration. Restoring rigging
gear can certainlybedone, but it can
onlybedoneby the right person, and
many timesproof loadingneeds tobe
completedaswell. Sometimesmagparticle
orultrasonic testingalsoneeds tobe
done, and that obviously takes the right
equipment and someone that knowswhat
they’redoing.
