Carsten Bohnenkamp, Director for special application Cranes, Manitowoc

Carsten Bohnenkamp is director for special application cranes for Manitowoc. Educated in mechanical engineering, the German native has 25 years of engineering experience. Prior to joining Manitowoc he held engineering positions at several other international companies including Bosch and Valeo. He moved into the construction equipment industry in 2004, when he joined Manitowoc as technical director for Potain tower cranes. His technical background and experience have acted as a solid foundation for his latest position with the company, heading operations for the special application cranes division, managing all aspects for the product line including engineering and sales.

Helen Qun,  General manager, Zoomlion tower crane division

Huang Qun is from Changsha, Hunan province, in China. Her position is senior engineer, general manager at the tower crane manufacturer Zoomlion Hoisting Machinery Branch Company, a subsidiary of Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Development Company. She is a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Changsha and holds a Bachelor degree, having graduated from Dalian University of Technology in 1988, prior to entering the Changsha Construction Machinery Research Institute, which belongs to the Ministry of Construction in the PRC. Under her leadership in the six years since 2006, Zoomlion Hoisting Machinery Branch Company has maintained an average compound annual growth rate of 86%. Sales revenue at the tower crane manufacturer increased to RMB 7.5 billion (US$ 1.18 billion) in 2011.

Thomas Herse, head of International Product Management,

Liebherr Werk Biberach

Thomas Herse is head of the International Product Management for LIEBHERR Werk Biberach. He has a degree in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Dresden and graduated as an engineer in 1998. He has 13 years experience in technical departments within the tower crane industry and has participated in the development of EN standards for tower cranes since 2002.

In 2011 he joined the Tower Crane department of Liebherr, with the responsibility for special applications and project coordination. In August 2012 Thomas became head of the International Product Management at the Tower Crane department of Liebherr.

François Jourdan, Vice President, Terex Cranes Global Marketing

With more than 20 years’ experience in international sales and marketing, in positions of increasing responsibility at Ford, New Holland and CNH, in the Middle East, Latin America, London and Chicago, François Jourdan joined Terex Cranes in 2007.

Over the past five years as global marketing vice president, reporting to the president, he has led the global marketing team in building the Terex Cranes brand. His responsibility focuses on all elements of the marketing mix from research and analysis, product communication and the development of marketing plans, to the initiation of commercial organisation processes (sales board president), including the migration of the company’s multiple legacy brands.

Peter Juhren, corporate service manager, Morrow Equipment

Peter Juhren is corporate service manager at Morrow Equipment Company in the USA. He has been in the tower crane industry for 32 years. Juhren is a member of the ASME B30 main committee and chairs the ASME B30.3 sub-committee for tower cranes. He is also a member of the Board of Directors at the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) and served on the Federal OSHA C-DAC committee in 2004 to re-write CFR 1926.550 subpart N regulations for cranes.

Martina Moritsch, Vice President and General Manager, Terex Tower Cranes

Ms. Moritsch has been in the Tower Crane industry for more than 25 years.  Within Terex she held management positions of increasing scope and responsibility, including Head of Finance as well as President and General Manager of the Terex facility in Fontanafredda.  She was named Vice President and General Manager, Terex Tower Cranes in 2001.

Ms. Moritsch holds a degree in economics and accounting from I.T.C Calvi in Belluno.

Johann Sailer, Managing Partner, GEDA

Johann Sailer is Managing Partner of the German hoist manufacturer GEDA-Dechentreiter GmbH & Co.KG. Since January 2012 he has also acted as President of the Committee for European Construction Equipment CECE and since November 2011 as President of the German Association VMDA for the construction and machinery sector.

Duncan Salt, Director & General Manager, HTC Plant Ltd

Having transferred from O’Rourke Civil Engineering Duncan Salt was appointed General Manager of Select Lifting Solutions in June 2005. He quickly brought together the individual elements of Select Plant Hire to create a fully integrated lifting solution business which was used to great effect on the Athletes Village and other complex projects. Peter Schiefer, owner and CEO, Wolffkran

Peter Schiefer was born in Germany in 1967. With a PhD in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Munich he began his career with Rolm Communications developing strategies and partnerships for the USA based enterprise communication business of Siemens. A move then to Siemens took him on a steep career path around the world; his last position with Siemens was president and CEO of the instrumentation and control division. Schiefer proceeded to work with Goldman Sachs in the merchant banking division, London and then became managing partner at GI Ventures in Germany. Schiefer bought Wolffkran together with his Swiss partner of M2 Capital Management Group in 2005. Schiefer since acts as CEO of the  Wolffkran Group. He was elected Chairman of the Committee for European Construction Equipment Tower Cranes Division in October 2011.

Tomáš is managing partner of Jerabovy a vytahovy servis (www.JVScranes.com), tower crane rental company from Czech Republic. Tomáš represents second generation of family management he has been involved with the company since 1990’s. Although mechanical engineer, Tomáš has strong background in business performance improvement and transactions, helping major financial institutions improve their distribution channels and implement major changes (2000-2007).

Tomáš has joined JVS in 2007 along with his brother Peter who has a similar background also joined one year later. Together they managed to grow the company through difficult times with excellent results (i.e. 30% EBITDA margin).

Francesco Valente, Technical Product Manager, Terex Cranes and representative of FEM CLE Tower and Harbour Cranes Product Group

Francesco Valente joined Terex Cranes in 2006 as Application Engineering Manager of the Tower Crane Division. Based in Fontanafredda, Italy, Francesco was the manager of the Tower Crane Application Engineering team until 2011, dedicated to providing technical solutions for customer’s projects and special applications worldwide. Since 2012, he is the Technical Product Manager for the entire product range.

Francesco is involved in standardization work and is speaking as a representative of FEM CLE Product Group Tower and Harbour Cranes (THC). His presentation reflects the position of FEM on a crucial topic too often neglected or underestimated.

Tim Watson is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with more than forty years experience in the construction plant industry.
