presentations on timely issues and topics in a format that is easily

Our industry currently faces a severe labor shortage of
mechanics, welders, drivers, crane operators, dispatchers
and more. HirePatriots.com runs online job boards to assist
veterans in finding employment; either one day, temporarily

the SC&R Foundation to help address the shortage by giving
the industry more exposure and highlighting jobs posted
by member companies. HirePatriots.com founders Mark and
Tori Baird will share the resources available to companies
wishing to hire US veterans and the techniques to do so. By
supporting the US veteran workforce, companies will increase
their employee and client loyalty, and gain employees who
demonstrate a strong work ethic, discipline and motivation.

This presentation will focus on recent developments in
litigation involving commercial carriers as well as the use of
social media. Record verdicts have been recorded over the
last several years through the use of the “Reptilian Theory”,
a concept advocated by personal injury attorneys to evoke
fear, paranoia and ultimately dollars for an injured party with
the intention of punishing or destroying the other party.
Speaker, John Pion, Pion, Nerone, Girman, Winslow and
Smith will discuss strategies to avoid/defeat this approach.
In addition, the discoverability of social media and its wide
application to current litigation will be addressed. Social
media can be used as a surveillance and investigative tool
to challenge the allegations of a plaintiff, but it can also
be evidence against the corporation’s interests. This topic
affects all drivers and commercial carriers, so be sure to
