will include the 22 tonne class EC220E
crawler excavator. Features include an
optimised hydraulic system and Eco
mode to deliver the power required for
the task in hand, and Volvo said fuel
economy was further improved by an
automatic engine shutdown system,
which kicks-in after a preset time.
In the wheeled excavator sector,
Intermat will see the launch of Volvo’s
Stage IV-compliant 16 tonne class
EW160E and 18 tonne EW180E.

of exhibition space, accommodating some
1,200 exhibitors. The 2012 exhibition attracted over 200,000
visitors – about a third of whom came from outside France.
Amajor theme at this year’s exhibition will be the launch of
newmachines with European Stage IV-compliant low emission
diesel engines on board, and this will be particularly evident in
the earthmoving equipment segment.
For example,
Doosan
will show two new Stage IV wheeled
excavators, the theDX170W-5at17 tonnes and theDX210W-5
at 21 tonnes,which are factory-installedwith thenewCoreTMS

Meanwhile Doosan’s new 24-tonne DX235LCR-5 reduced
radius crawler excavator will also be in Paris. It is a Stage IV-
compliant replacement for the LC-3 Stage IIIB model, and is
said to have new features that boost
uptime and increase profitability. It
claims a 9% increase in engine power and
5% increase in torque, plus an increase
of around 13% in bucket force in both
standard and boost modes. A narrow
tracked variant, the DX235NLC-5, will
also be on show.
