Their newestmodel is theHC170which
can go into ignitionprotection-rated
environments.Machut andhis colleagues
actuallyblewup aHC170 just to seehow
it performed.
“Itmademe sad to see it blownupbut
theyhave to test it,” he said. “For example,
anoil rigmight be around explosive gases
or in thehull of a shipwhere youhave
engines and gas tanks. That’swhat our
HC170models aredesigned todo.”
The growingmarket
Based in theNetherlands,Orlacowent
so far as to freeze one of their cameras
in a blockof iceduring testing. It still
worked.Needless to say, durability is
the keydistinguisher betweenproducts
officiallydesigned for heavy equipment
and something like aGoPro.
Orlaco recently established their first
U.S. office in Jasper, GA.
“The camera,monitor and its
peripherals aredesigned exclusively for
the operationof each crane type,” said
PeterDove, senior accountmanager,
Orlaco. “Sequential switching,multi-
view,mirror-view,marker line option,
camera tagging and radar zoning are just
a few available features.”
The products are stillmanufactured in
theNetherlands but thedistribution is
becoming increasinglymore global as
demand continues tobuild.
“It’s going to explode,” saidDove. “We’re
going todouble or triple in size in the
next 18months to three years. In addition
to a growingnetworkof dealerswho sell
Orlacoproducts across the globe, wehave
offices inGermany, France,Denmark,
NorthAmerica and Singapore.”
Their compact camera for a rear, side
orwinch view and theOrlaco auto focus
zoom camera for the load view are their
most popular products. According to
Dove, the learning curve is virtuallynon-
existent.
“Theplug andplay installation and
the full on-screendisplayprovideuser-
friendly installation andoperation,” he
said.
Orlaco, like other camera
manufacturers, is trying todisplayhow
jobsite safety can improvewith their
product.
“We continue to stress to theOEM’s
the benefit of offeringOrlaco cameras
as standard equipment,” saidDove.
“Increasedperformance, efficiency
and safety are amajor concern in any
industry.Orlaco camerasmayhelp
everyonewhoowns or operates a crane to
reach that goal.”
