196.9 feet and amaximum system length
of 164 to195.9 feet.
Link-Belt’s newest truck crane is the
HTC-86100, whichwas rolledout in
2011. It’s been a few years since thenbut
it’s still Link-Belt’s star performer. This
crane’smaximum capacity is 90 tonswith
a boom lengthof 38 to140 feet.
“OurHTC-3140LBholds thedistinction
of being the largest truck crane in the
market today and it goes head tohead
with all-terrain cranes in its class,” said
Curnutte. “TheHTC-3140LBhas ablend
of features that aredrawn from the best
attributes of a truck and all terrain crane.
It has the reach and capacities of the
all-terrainwhile alsohaving the speed
and transportabilityof a truck crane.
Customers of the 3140LB are impressed
at howmuch faster and efficiently this
crane can get to and from, setup and tear
downon a jobover anyof the all-terrain
cranes offered. Link-Belt’sHTC-8660 is
intended tobe aone-piecemovewith a
grossweight of around80,000pounds.
It transportswith ease, and can cover
several jobs in aday, Curnutte said. The
HTC-8660 faces direct competition in the
truck crane segment and also competes
against boom trucks.”
Link-Belt also continues in their efforts
tobe a green companyby transitioning
into themost current EPA emissions
standards.
“One of the challenges for any crane
manufacturer is keepingupwith ever
changing emissionmandateswhile
also stayingon the cutting edge of true
cranedevelopment. Today’s emission
requirements have adifferent fuel
type, supplemental emissiondevices,
diagnostic requirements and even
supplemental fluids. Link-Belt goes to
great efforts tomake these systems simple
sooperators can focus just on crane
work,” saidCurnutte.
As theworld economy continues to
improve, cranemanufacturers all across
NorthAmerica express optimism about
their industry, especially the truck crane
market. Truck cranes provide enduring
value for customers because they are
relatively inexpensive tomaintain and
they’re versatile.
“If the crane can lift it safely and the site
conditions arematched to themachine,
youwill likely see a truck crane at the
job,” saidBarth.
‘‘
While the truck crane
market has not traditionally
been a rental market, we
have seen a steady demand
for truck cranes from rental
companies. The demand
for these products iswhat
wewould see as a normal
market condition demand.
Nothing exciting nor
alarming.
