Methodology
Developing a credible list ofNorth
America’s largest crane-owningcompanies
turns out tobe a12-month effort,
withmost companies being extremely
cooperative andpleased to sendus their
ACT
100
survey forms tomake the
ranking. For this list,we surveyed close
to650 companies in theU.S., Canada and
Mexico.While the
ACT
100
ismuch
more comprehensive than itwaswhenwe
startednine years ago,we realize there are
probably25 to30major crane companies
not representedon the
ACT
100
.
Some companies just don’twant to share
information about their fleets.
Youwill see an asteriskby some
companies. For these companies,we
didn’t necessarilyget updated information
and instead reliedon an estimate formula
basedondataobtained last year and
throughother sources.All of these
companies on the listwere contacted,
some several times, andgiven the
opportunity to supply fleet information
and relateddata.
