Biografia
Helen Joyce mudou-se ao Brasil em 2010 para se tornar a chefe do escritório de São Paulo para o jornal The Economist. Com esse cargo, escreveu sobre diversos temas como os descobrimentos brasileiros do pré-sal, a lenta recuperação do degradado rio Tietê em São Paulo, a desmatamento na Amazônia, a corrupção política e as dificuldades de fazer negócios no Brasil. Anteriormente, foi correspondente de educação do mesmo jornal, com sede em Londres, no Reino Unido. Antes de trabalhar para o The Economist editou Plus, uma revista online sobre matemática publicada pela Universidade de Cambridge, e foi fundadora da revista trimestral da Royal Statistical Society Significance.
Joyce é formada em matemática pela universidade Trinity College, em Dublin, e possui um doutorado em medição geométrica teórica da University College de Londres.

João B Dominici

Rapid economic growth is a cause for celebration, but brings its own problems. Sindipesa’s João B Dominici is in a unique position to consider the issues facing Brazil’s heavy transport sector – regulation, infrastructure investment, training and more.
A civil engineering graduate and a specialist in transportation, João Batista Dominici has been with Sindipesa - the Sindicato Nacional das Empresas de Transporte e Movimentação de Cargas Pesadas e Excepcionais - for 15 years specializing in management, regulatory and legislative affairs, development, communications and marketing.
Previously, he spent 14 years heading up the department responsible for control and inspection of heavy transport in the largest city in Brazil, São Paulo.
Sindipesa’s members are the some of the biggest and most important companies involved with heavy transport and cranes in Brazil.
Javier Martinez
Executive Director, ALE
Javier Martínez was born in Madrid, Spain. He graduated in Naval Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid in 1980. After graduating his interest turned towards the transportation and installation of heavy items, both offshore and onshore, and in 1983, he founded the company LASTRA in Spain. LASTRA specialized in engineering and final installation of heavy elements which couldn’t be installed by crane. He participated in designing new skidding and lifting tools and concepts. In 1991 LASTRA was sold to the Australian Industrial Group BRAMBLES, who gave financial support to continue the developments and new designs. Then in 2002 the company was bought by the English worldwide heavy contractor ALE, where Javier is currently Executive Director of Spain & The Americas as well as Technical Advisor for the Civil Construction Division. Throughout the last 25 years his concepts, ideas, knowledge and expertise have been used to improve the constructability of many bridges in Europe and America.
Vincent Stenger

Vincent Stenger has been working as Product Safety Manager at Terex Cranes since 2008. He’s located in Zweibrücken, Germany. Prior to join Terex, he has been working in the automotive industry for 8 years in Germany, Spain, China and France, lately as R&D Manager. He’s a member of the CEN TC147 WG11 developing EN13000 and participates to FEM Mobile Cranes.

David Rodrigues is Commercial Director at Makro Enghenaria. He has been with the company since 1996.
Makro is one of Brazil's leading crane and lifting companies with a strong presence in many sectors, from mining, petrochemicals and energy to steel, cement and port operations.
The company says it has one of the youngest fleets in the country, has attained international quality standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and is implementing OHSAS 18001.
Located in Fortaleza (Ceará), the company operates throughout Brazil.

Joel Oliva

National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO)
Joel Oliva is Manager of Program Development and Administration for the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators and has been with the organization since 2007. Prior to that, he spent 6 years in the certification industry handling test delivery services for NCCCO. His primary responsibility is to oversee all current and future certification programs developed by NCCCO. This includes test development, test design, program marketing and Latin American Market Development.
As a member of the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SC&RA) Tower Crane Committee and State of Maryland Crane Safety Group he is addressing the need for crane personnel certification as well as other personnel through helping set safety standards in the industry.
The National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators is an independent, non-profit organization formed in 1995 to develop effective performance standards for safe crane operation. By providing a thorough, independent assessment of knowledge and skills, NCCCO seeks to enhance lifting equipment safety, reduce workplace risk, improve performance records, stimulate training, and give due recognition to the professional skills of those who work in and around crane operations.
Simão Marcelino da Silva Tuma

Simão Marcelino da Silva Tuma, known in the oil and gas market as Tuma, is a Mechanical Engineer (1978), has an MSc in Numerical Methods for Stress Analysis (1994) and is a Safety Engineer (2004).
He had a 33 years career at Petrobras as PE Mechanical Engineer, working with Construction Management and Engineering Departments, managing construction of oil and gas off-shore and on-shore projects.
As a result, he acquired a deep knowledge of heavy lift and heavy transportation projects, plus the modularisation of on-shore plants and constructability studies.
Sarah Spivey
Managing Director, Modulift
With safety in the lifting equipment industry a prominent concern around the world, Modulift continue to be at the forefront of quality assured lifting equipment, setting the engineering standard for excellence.
Since Sarah’s appointment to Modulift in 2008 she has worked closely with the in-house engineering team identifying the need for specialist high QA level of design and manufacture. Ultimately this has developed Modulift from spreader beam manufacturer, to specialist lifting equipment engineering company - custom design and manufacturing projects now forming a large part of their arsenal.
As an Ambassador for quality and safety, Modulift achieved DNV design certification in 2012, making them the only spreader beam manufacturer to be accredited to such a high level for their standard off-the-shelf range of products.
A Business Studies graduate, Sarah previously specialised as a Marketing Consultant working for numerous high profile Business-to-Business companies throughout the UK; growing their individual brands and turnover.
Modulift customers include high profile companies across the Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, Offshore, Maritime, Construction and Heavy Haulage industries worldwide. Modulift’s focus will continue to be developing products to meet the highest international standards.
Terry W. Emmert
President, Emmert International
In 1968, Terry founded Emmert International with little more than a vision. Over the next 45 years Terry grew Emmert International into an icon in the heavy haul industry. Emmert International has become a synonym for quality. In 1970 Terry started a manufacturing division doing research, design and the manufacture of innovative dolly transport systems. Over the ensuing decades Emmert International has pioneered the design and manufacture of dollies for the transportation of even bigger and heavier loads.
In 1985 Emmert International started to design and manufacture specialized carriers for super loads. In 2004 Emmert International purchased a railcar system to move loads of up to one million lbs. In 2011 in the middle of winter Emmert International moved oil refinery equipment for Conoco Phillips through Idaho over the mountainous backbone of the North American Continent to Montana in the continents heartland. In 2012 Emmert designed a transporter to move a 340 ton rock for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The transporter system designed by Emmert International was 2 stories high, 32’ wide and the length of a soccer field. The transporter system had 196 wheels and 44 axles. Emmert had to coordinate the route on the 106 mile route with 4 counties and 22 cities.
Terry began a term on the SC&RA Board of Directors in 2012.

Sales director at XCMG Crane division in Brazil
Deivid Garcia has eight years experience with cranes, having worked in the special projects and commercial divisions of German and American manufacturers. Garcia studied electrical engineering.
He joined XCMG three years ago and is now sales director for lifting equipment - Brazil division.
Luciano Dias
Vice president of sales, Brazil, Manitowoc Cranes
With Manitowoc Cranes since 2006, Luciano Dias is the vice president of sales in Brazil. In this position he is responsible for the region’s sales and marketing efforts, defining customer and market needs, as well as the development of the company’s footprint in this important growth market.
Prior to Manitowoc, Dias worked in various sales and marketing positions in the construction equipment industry, with Mills Rental South America and Growings Retail Ltd. He has degrees in business and marketing.
Manitowoc manufactures multiple lines of construction cranes in Passo Fundo, Brazil, as well as the United States, Europe and China. Manitowoc customers throughout Latin America and Brazil primarily use cranes on refinery, oil, gas, and wind farm jobsites.
