lift that allows the trailer to be run as a

Boom carriers
Nelson Manufacturing Company will
display three newly updated products at
ConExpo, including the Nelson Boom
Launch Trailer; Nelson Crane Boom
Carrier; and the Nelson Hydraulic Bi-
Fold Ramp Trailer.
Nelson has optimized the weight of its
Crane Boom Launch Trailer. The new
lighter weight trailer model is designated
as #ARTA-40BLX. This new trailer will
allow many of the heavier crane booms
to be hauled without being classified as a
super load.
The Nelson Boom Launch Trailer
eliminates the need to have an assist
crane to install or remove boom
sections from large hydraulic cranes.
With the Nelson boom launch trailer,
the hydraulic boom lift and travel
mechanism can swiftly and safely
launch the crane boom. The trailer is
self-contained with its own hydraulic
power unit eliminating the need to
run hydraulic hoses from the crane to
power the trailer. Nelson has built its
trailers to fit cranes from all of the major
manufacturers.
Nelson will also be displaying a newly
designed crane boom dolly at ConExpo.
The new Nelson dolly system offers
a common lower frame for multiple
crane models while still offering various
customer preference options.
The Nelson crane boom towers, upper
rockers and counterweight brackets
are all custom-designed and built to fit
each specific crane. They work directly
with the crane manufacturers to ensure
that their dollies are attaching to the
boom in an approved manner. One of
the many recent features available on
the dollies is an upper rocker leveling
system. Heavy duty extension springs
are installed to allow the upper rocker to
return to a level position when the boom
is removed, which assists the operator in
attaching the crane.
Lastly, Nelson is touting its bi-fold
ramp trailer designed specifically for
heavy duty construction and rigging
markets. The bi-fold ramp is powered
by an electric/hydraulic power unit
which draws power from the tractor
battery. The ramp can be utilized to
load and unload both from the ground
and various dock heights. The Nelson
ramp trailer is available from 25- to
60-ton capacities with various axle
configurations.
Performance lowbeds
Rogers Brothers Corp. will be displaying
two new trailer designs at ConExpo.
The company will showcase its high-
performance lowbed trailers including
the latest 35 to 40-ton capacity NoFoot
detachable gooseneck trailer. The trailer
has a carrying capacity of 40 tons with the
use of the removable/flip third axle. As a
tandem, the trailer is rated at 35 tons. The
24-foot platform deck is designed for a
2/3 deck length concentrated load and a
loaded deck height of 20 inches.
East Coast breakthrough
Talbert’s latest and greatest is its 75-ton
trailer, which is a “major breakthrough
in East Coast-style trailer design,” the
company said.
Traditionally, East Coast trailers
have been limited to 65-ton capacities,
but by incorporating the new Talbert
E3Nitro axle extension (nitrogen-assisted
dampening system), Talbert can offer
trailer capacities up to 85 tons. In the
past, a West Coast trailer was necessary
to haul loads that weighed more than
65 tons. However, the trailer’s versatility
was limited because the West Coast style
only allowed it to be used alone or as a
3+3 spread axle. When using the new
Talbert E3Nitro, an East Coast trailer can
be used as a 3-, 4- or 5-axle close couple
trailer or in 3+1, 3+2 or 3+3 spread axle
configurations.
In terms of specifications, the Talbert
75-ton trailer consists of a 3-axle jeep
