TRAILERS
PRODUCT FOCUS
Inc. has been selling and servicing Kamag
equipment for more than 30 years. TII
and Precision plan to build more products
in the U.S.
Another TII Group model that will be
exhibited at ConExpo is the Scheuerle-
Kamag K25 Power Booster. It has drive
axles and can be towed at 80 km/h as an
additional platform trailer or it can be
used as an auxiliary drive with a Power
Pack Unit (PPU) to boost traction on
inclines. Where the tractor unit needs
help the PPU cuts in automatically. A
further option for in-plant transport
is the mechanically coupled parallel
combination where the Power Booster is
laterally coupled as a platform trailer unit.
Its broad base allows transport of loads
with a high center of gravity.
Bragg Crane & Rigging has purchased
the first unit,
ACT
has learned. The
company, which has long owned dual-
lane Combis, purchased a 4-axle Power
Booster that eliminates the need for a
push truck.
Also on display at ConExpo from
Scheuerle is a four-axle Wide Combi
Power Booster. The Wide Combi has
been customized to fully comply with U.S.
road regulations. It uses pendulum axle
technology where the hydraulic cylinders
in the axles provide a damping action,
compensate for ground unevenness and
offer a high lifting range to drive under
and lift loads. A steering angle of up to 60
degrees is possible.
When the Scheuerle InterCombi SP is
loaded out with the clamped rotor blade
of a Vestas V126 wind turbine, it’s a sight
to behold. Transporting rotor blades to
wind power stations presents hauling
challenges, especially when entering a
wind farm where there are more tight
spaces to maneuver and obstacles to
overcome.
With the use of the rotor blade adapter,
rotor blades can avoid obstacles such as
trees or buildings. Also on gradients or
steep winding roads, the position of the
rotor blade can be adjusted. Rotor blades,
depending on the type of wing, can be
raised to an angle of 70 degrees. Due to an
integrated slew drive, the rotor blade can
be rotated around its longitudinal axis in
order to provide as little wind resistance
as possible. In the process, a sensor issues
a warning signal if a parameterizable wind
speed has been exceeded. Hydraulically-
controlled counterweights ensure precise
adjustments even on the most unfavorable
ground conditions during self-propelled
driving.
Flexibility from Cometto
The MSPE modular series from
Cometto allows users to create different
configurations of trailers according to
specific loading needs. The advanced
electronic system and dedicated
Cometto software allow a 360-degree
turning radius. Each of the suspensions
is independent and connected to the
computer through a dedicated encoder.
“With these features, the MSPE has the
ability to move in every direction, making
very easy the operations, even in narrow
spaces,” the company said.
The MSPE range grants load capacity up
to 60 tons per axle line (MSPE Evo2) due
to the high quality steel frame, specific
suspensions type and specially designed
tires.
“This is a great advantage in terms
of maneuverability, thanks to smaller
quantity of axles needed to move the same
payload and, as a consequence, in terms
of final costs as well,” the company said.
Cometto has also developed a full range
of Power Packs featuring different ranges
of power and performances. Cometto
Full-Hybrid Power Pack is the first
power unit which provides an alternative
solution to traditional diesel power
systems.
Etnyre additions
Etnyre Blackhawk recently added a new
light-weight trailer to its line. The model
RTNPT65TD3-R4/5A-RAWC features
an empty weight of 39,700 pounds. The
trailer has a hydraulic power tower to lift
the deck to clear obstacles and assist in
shakers
The Scheuerle rotor blade adapter can
be mounted and driven on pulled platform
trailer combinations as well as self-
propelled modules.
