EXPLOSIVE DEMOLITION
AWARD
was collected by
FABIO BRUNO
PINTO
and was presented by Dan Costello.
Fabio gained the Award for safely performing
the risky implosion of three reinforced
concrete buildings with 7, 6 and 5 floors
in the city of Niteról in Brazil. The buildings
belonged to the former Santa Monica
Hospital, which had been vacant for more
than 10 years. There were many elements
of risk that had to be studied and eliminated
during the implosion.
COLEMAN & COMPANY
picked up the
INDUSTRIAL DEMOLITION AWARD
, which was
presented by William Sinclair.
The company was recognised for the a project that involved the demolition of four gas
holders spread over three sites in Liverpool and nearby St Helens in the north west of
England. During the course of the work, the company had to overcome several unexpected
challenges that made the work infinitely more complex and involved.
