HIGHRISE
Topping out
“Rapidshor shoring, reaching a height of 17 m to the top of
the dome, was arranged at varying heights and adjusted using
the systems jacks to support the curved structure of the dome.
The Rapidshor shoring was founded on top of an Alshor
Plus birdcage, a staggering 25 m high, erected from the main
5.5 m slab. In total, this created a record-breaking tower for
RMDKwikform, some 42m tall.”
Due tobe completed in2015, thenewSultanQaboosMosque
will be one of the largest inOman.
Automatic climb
Formwork manufacturer Doka is currently working on one of
the tallest buildings in Italy – the 202m highTorre Isozaki in
Milan.
Located within the new sustainable CityLife-Project, the
tower will have 53 storeys, including basement levels, and cover
an overall area of 53,000 m

. Doka Italia supplied automatic
climbing formwork and protection screens for this project.
“Torre Isozaki is the first high-rise building in Italywhere core
floors andwalls are realised in the same step rather than the core
being built beforehand,” saidMassimilianoGuelfi, engineering
manager ofDoka Italia.
The formwork was raised hydraulically using Doka’s SKE100
automatic climbing formwork. This lifting technologyalso raises
the concrete placing boom built into the automatic climbing
formwork.
Another automatic hydraulic climbing system, Meva’s MAC,
is being used on the construction
of Ardmore Park in Singapore, a
condominium tower being built for
developer SC Global by Dragages
Singapore, a subsidiary of Bouygues.
Compact in tight spaces, theWolff 166 B is ideally suited for
the tight build conditions Riedel Bau isworking to inMunich.
The jib of theWolff 166 B can be raised
almost vertically. So there is no danger
of a collisionwith neighbouring cranes
both during the hours of operation and
when it is out of service.
At the Evolution
Tower project,
the PotainMD
265 B is lifting a
variety of general
construction
materials that
range inweight
to 12 tonnes.
