US unveiling for
Rammer aids
R
ammer used the recent ConExpo
show to unveil what it said are key
enhancements to its Large Breaker
models. The first of these involves its patented
lower tool bushing that now features a bronze
replaceable bearing insert inside a re-useable
body sleeve. The use of bronze helps to protect
the tool surface from damage that in turn
prevents fatigue fractures and tool snapping.
Its smooth surface also improves the dust
seal capabilities for a longer working life. The
bushing can be maintained by monitoring
and replacing only the bearing insert when it
becomes worn.
The second innovation was a new style of
overflow protection valve – Ramvalve. This
is available for all the hammers in the Large
Range except the 7013. The valve monitors the
oil flow through the hammer. If this exceeds
a pre-defined setting, the valve activates and
adjusts the flow to a very low level and the
hammer impact rate drops significantly. It
resets after the hammer re-starts with a correct
oil flow.
Rammer also used the show to give its 5011
Large Hammer its official North American
launch. Weighing in at 4,750 kg (10,470 lb),
this hammer is suitable for use on carriers in
the 43-80 tonne range.

EQUIPMENT
Remu used ConExpo to show off screening and
crushing buckets specifically updated for the North
American market. Designed to meet the demands of
tough operating conditions, the new units feature
wear-resistant steel rotors, are fabricated using
Ruukki Raex high-strength, wear resistant steel
for extended service life, bolt attached comb
counter blades and cleaning scrapers. The EE
series feature bolted sides and plugs for greasing
and interference fits on the shafts to enhance
transmission.
New compact from
Mustang and Gehl
Mustang, part of the Manitou group of
companies, has introduced its latest generation
zero tail swing compact excavator, the 4.5
tonne 450Z NXT2. Power for the machine
comes from a Yanmar Tier IV Interim
diesel developing 28.2 kW (37.7 hp). With
an increased cab size, the machine feature a
digital operator interface that displays real time
system information, service reminders and 90
days of operating history.
Auxiliary proportional
hydraulics fitted as standard
give the operator infinitely
variable control of the
hydraulic flow, allowing the
ideal flow to be set for the
attachment and application.
An ECO Mode can be
activated from the
cab by a single switch
that, when activated reduces the engine speed
by 10%, reducing fuel consumption for lowered
operating costs. An Auto Deceleration feature
lowers noise and emissions levels when the
hydraulic movement has not occurred for more
than four seconds. This also increases fuel
economy and lowers operating costs.

Mustang’s new 450Z
NXT2 compact zero tail
swing is also available from
Manitou sister company
Gehl as the Z45 GEN:2
Austrian compact crusher specialist Rockster has
extended its R1100 range with the introduction
of the R1100DS impact unit that can be ordered
with a screen/return system consisting of a screen
box and return belt. Using the company’s patented
double function return system, the return belt can
also be used for stockpiling with a discharge height
of 4 m (13.2 ft). The machine features a recently
introduced multi-function display that allows the
crushing gap to be adjusted fully hydraulically and
continuously to allow easy and rapid setting for
final product size.
