–was presented

K. Resnick. The session focusedon the
areaof estate, business succession and
liquidity issues for theprivatelyheld
business owner so that heor shewill be
able to successfullypass thebusiness to
thenext generation, or other successors.
DAY FOUR
began early again, this time
with theTrail Kingbreakfast, andpopular
speakerCareyLohrenz. As a former F-14
Tomcat FighterPilot in theU.S.Navy,
Lohrenz knows about pressure, andher
message to the crowded room stressed
the importanceof staying relevant to your
customers, especiallyduring challenging
economic times. Sheurged the audience
to steadilydeliver value to their
customers, because in life, business and
even aerial combat, complacencykills.
TheProducts Fair followedLohrenz,
andprovided attendees theopportunity
to see and interactwith the industry’s
newest offerings inproducts, equipment,
accessories and services. This year’s fair
featured
90
booths and included an
Apple iPad as a giveaway grandprize.
DAY FIVE
saw the 2014Annual
Conference come to an elegant endwith
theClosingNightAwards&Recognition
Reception/Dinner. Similar to theGuitar
Reception, thePresident’sReception and
the SC&RFoundationGala earlier in the
week, this eventwas aperfect symbol
of gratitude and acknowledgment from
SC&RA to itsmany valuedmembers.
The Jobof theYear presentationswere
akey exampleof such recognition. In
theRigging Jobof theYear category,
Fagioli (Italy) tookhomehonors in the
Over $750,000 category.OmegaMorgan
(Washington) captured the $150,000–
$750,000 award. AndBarnhartCrane&
Rigging (Tennessee) received theUnder
$150,000 award. In theHauling Jobof
theYearCategory, BerardTransport
(Louisiana) tookhomehonors for the
Moving Jobof theYear. In theOver
150,000pounds (net) category,Northwest
Crane Service (Oklahoma) nabbed the
distinction. And in theUnder 150,000
pounds (net) category, PrecisionHeavy
Haul, Inc. (Arizona) proudly accepted the
award.
As a fitting end to aproductive and
stimulatingweek, outgoingSC&RA
President RonMontgomery graciously
turnedover the gavel to incoming
PresidentAlanBarnhart, whodelivered
an inspiring acceptance speech–
recognizinghis family and themany
integral folks hehas to thank at Barnhart
Crane&Rigging for givinghim the
strength to takeon this new leadership
role.

James Lommawas the 12th recipient of SC&RA’s Golden Achievement Award at the closing
night ceremony – for outstanding contributions to the industry. He received a long, well-
deserved standing ovation from his peers.
Doc Hendley, reminded his overflowing
audience about the importance of
staying true to values and objectives. His
presentation –
Wine toWater
–was an
inspiring look at oneman’s determined
mission tomake a difference in theworld.
The SC&R Foundation Gala put the fun in
fundraising yet againwith a dinner/dance,
including a live auction and casino tables.
