Tadano America has
launched the GR-1600XL-2,
the company’s range topping
rough terrain crane. The new
crane boasts a capacity of
160 tons and features a newly
designed 200-foot, 6-section
rounded boom, providing a
maximum 201-foot lifting
height, and 185-foot load
radius, powered by a single
telescopic cylinder. Extra
reach is provided by a 2-stage,
bi-fold lattice tilt jib, which
extends tip height to 257 feet
and a load radius to 200 feet.
The company said the
crane was designed based
on customer input. Tadano
introduces the highest
lifting capacity rough terrain
crane utilizing Tadano’s
first compact 3-axle carrier.
The new 3-axle carrier has
improved maneuverability
to navigate confined job sites
with 6x4x6 drive, plus four
steering modes, and a turning
radius of 32 feet, 6 inches
with 6-wheel steer. For ease of
transport, the self-removable
counterweight and outriggers
require no assist crane. In
addition, the cab tilt system
design improves operator
visibility for high-reaching
operations.
The GR-1600XL-2 comes
standard with such
features as HELLO-
NET, used to monitor
crane activity
straight from
your computer or
mobile device; the
eco-mode and positive
control systems that reduce
fuel consumption while the
crane is being operated or
on standby; and Tadano’s
exclusive asymmetrical, multi-
position outrigger setups
for maximum utilization of
crane lifting capacities when
operating in confined areas.
The crane comes standard
with an automatic moment
limiter (AML-C) which
allows the operator to preset a
custom working environment.
The operator can preset the
load radius, boom angle,
tip height and swing range,
enabling safe and seamless
lifting operations.

Crane Institute Certification
is now offering certification
programs for operators of
articulating boom cranes
and digger derricks. “Many
companies are seeking
operator certification because
their customers are requiring
it. We are also seeing a
push for articulating crane
and digger derrick operator
certification from insurance
companies,” said Bill Schofield,
technical consultant to Crane
Institute of America, Sanford,
FL., and chairman of the Multi-
Purpose Equipment program
development committee.

Link-Belt employees recently
teamed up with the Lexington
Habitat for Humanity to
provide over 1,240 working
hours for two separate build
projects. In total, 154 Link-
Belt employees were involved
with two home projects: one
on Price Road, the other on
Charles Avenue; both located
in Lexington, KY.

Taylor Crane & Rigging, based in
Coffeyville, KS, has added 32 new
axle lines of Scheuerle Kamag
K25 specialized transporter
to its fleet. The order included
22 axle lines of pulled trailers
H (Regular) and SL (Split
types). In addition, four
Power Booster axle lines and
six self-propelled axle lines
were acquired. The purchase
means TCR won’t need to rent
a transport unit from Dallas,
the closest available base for a
transport trailer of this kind, a
company spokesperson said.
