the USA to exhibit its new S 230
XDT telescopic and articulated aerial
work platform. The unit features a
maximum working height of 70 m.

Brazil-based Mills has
announced a further US$71.3
million investmnent in its powered
access fleet, with deliveries starting
in January 2014. The investment
is part of its 2014 capital budget. It
will help it address strong market
demand and continue geographic
expansion, said the company.
Dromad Hire
, based in
Dundalk, on the border of the
Republic of Ireland and Northern
Ireland, is partnering with UK-based
Independent Parts Specialists (IPS),
to form IPS Ireland. IPS has installed
its parts management system in
Dundalk and the facility now has
thousands of lines of replacement
parts in stock, ready to ship.
Geda
has launched the 2000
kg P22 hoist, adding to the Multilift
series launched at Bauma in April.
With a maximum lifting speed of 54
m/min, the P22 transports materials
up to 2000 kg or 22 people to a
maximum 200 m height. It has a
platform size of 1.4 m x 3.2 m x 2.1
m and allows the transport of bulky
goods, such as plasterboards for
interior work.

AFRICA’S FIRST GENIE SX-180
Goscor Hi-Reach placed an order
for more than 80 Terex AWP Genie
platforms, including the SX-180,
the world’s biggest boom, at
September’s Bauma Africa exhibition
in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Distributor in southern Africa for
Genie Industries, Teupen, Custom
Equipment and PB Lifttechnik, Goscor
Hi-Reach acquired the machines
for sister company, Goscor Access
Rental.
The 180 ft Genie SX-180 was
launched at Bauma, Munich in April
and will be the first to be delivered to
Africa. Dean Jones, Goscor Access
Rental managing director said there
are plenty of opportunities in the
market for the SX-180. “We have
also ordered a number of other boom
lifts, rough terrain scissors, as well as
some slab scissors to supplement our
growing rental fleet.”
Harsco and Brand
Energy merge
US private equity firm Clayton,
Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) is
to merge two of the world’s
biggest scaffolding and formwork
businesses after simultaneously
acquiring Harsco Infrastructure
from Harcso and Brand Energy
from First Reserve.
The new combined business
will have total sales of US$3
billion and will be run under the
Brand Energy & Infrastructure
Services name from its current US
head office. Brand chairman and
CEO Paul Wood will take charge
of the combined business, with
other directors coming from both
companies.
Harsco will be paid US$300
million in cash plus an equity
stake in the business worth
around $225 million. First
Reserve, the private equity firm
that acquired Brand Energy in
2007, has not disclosed the sale
price.
Two-thirds of the combined
company’s revenues are generated
from the energy sector, with
a significant level of recurring
revenue driven by required
maintenance work.

Ruthmann is completing its
Height Performance range
with a 38 m model just
launched and a 68 m version
to follow.
The T 380 truck mount has
a 38 m working height and
a 31 m maximum outreach.
According to the company,
compared to other platforms
in that class, the T 380
provides 5 m of additional
reach when working at 34 m.
It is the smallest in the six-
model range and is mounted
on an 18 tonne, two axle 2 x4
or 4 x 4 truck. It offers a 600
kg basket capacity.
Ruthmann will imminently
launch the 63 tonne working
Steiger T 630, to complete
the range.
New target for
Palfinger Russia
Palfinger Area CIS, the Russian
branch of Palfinger Platforms, has
teamed up with Belarus-based
Eureka to customise truck mounts
for the Eastern European market.
It will see the manufacturer’s
new P200 A mounted on a 3.5
tonne Kamaz 43502 4x4 truck.
Palfinger Platforms’ managing
director Stephan Kulawik said,
“The P 200 A Kamaz is the
first truck access platform that
combines the quality of Palfinger
height access technology with a
successful, simple design and a
viable market price to be available
on the Russian market.”
The new 20 m truck platform
was recently showcased at the
Comtrans exhibition in Moscow.
According to Palfinger, contacts
established at the exhibition
showed that the product will open
up new markets for the partners.
The P200 A was first launched
at Bauma in April this year. Since
the exhibition, 100 units have
been sold.
