ACT
MARCH 2014
CONEXPO
SHOW GUIDE
state-of-the-art cab and its ergonomic
comfort and visibility.
LIEBHERR CRANES, GOLD LOT 2155
, will
feature 50,000 square feet of exhibit space,
and will showcase two tower cranes and
six mobile and crawler cranes.
In the all-terrain class, Liebherr’s LTM
1300-6.2 all-terrain is the successor to
the LTM 1250-6.1. The newer model’s
telescopic boom is longer by 20 feet at 256
feet. Load capacity is also greater, making
it the most powerful mobile crane in the
360-ton class, according to the company.
Instead of the twin-engine concept
normally used on cranes this size, the 360-
ton capacity LTM 1300-6.2 is powered by
a single engine with a mechanical shaft
drive. One 450 kW V8 diesel is mounted
in the carrier.
Moving to Liebherr lattice boom cranes,
at the top end of the size scale on show is
the 1,000-metric ton capacity Liebherr LR
11000. Introduced in 2012, it fits in the
range between the 750-metric ton capacity
LR 1750 and the LR 11350, which is rated
at 1,350 metric tons. A particular focus
was optimizing the design of the crane for
quick setup, to have minimum component
dimensions and a weight that is efficient
for transport. Maximum component
weight is 60 metric tons with the option to
reduce the weight to 45 metric tons. The
crane features a compact design to allow
operation in constricted areas. The range
of boom options includes derrick systems,
special wind power equipment and the
PowerBoom Parallel Boom capacity
enhancement system.
The Liebherr LR 1250 crawler crane
will also be exhibited. This crane features
strong lift capacities of 275 tons and
compact dimensions at 9 feet, 10 inches
transport width. Due to its mobility
and performance characteristics,
applications range from common
lifting and assembly tasks to
clamshell applications. The crane
is fitted with two crane winches,
each of which features 13 tons of
line pull and offers high rope
speeds for this line pull. As
an option, the LR 1250 can
be equipped with 13-ton
free-fall winches. The
LR 1250 also offers the
possibility to transport
completely mounted,
including the boom
and counterweight. This taxi-crane feature
is especially beneficial for short-term work
on jobsites, the company said.
LINK-BELT, GOLD LOT 1747
, will feature
several new cranes at its stand, including
an all-new AT, RT and telescopic crawler.
Brand new from the Kentucky-based
manufacturer is the 210-ton capacity
ATC-3210 on five axles.
The 200-foot fully
curved profile boom
is in six sections and
there are seven extension
modes for maximizing
capacities. Tip height for the
fully extended main boom is
210.9 feet, and the maximum tip
height, with all extensions and jib,
is 326.7 feet. Like the ATC-3275
shown at ConExpo 2011, the new
crane’s upper engine is mounted
transversely to maximize space
for a stowable fly jib. The 12-foot
heavy-lift fly has two-line, one-
load lift procedures for concrete
panel tilt-up work. An optional three-
piece bi-fold fly jib has hydraulic offset
between 2 and 45 degrees. Also available
is a manual jib with four offset positions.
Easy road transport is a key factor in the
design of the ATC-3210. It meets the
toughest transport laws in North America,
and its Cummins engine meets Tier IV
final and EPA 2013 on-highway engine
exhaust emission requirements. Multiple
steering modes are controllable from the
single carrier cab, and the drive/steer
configuration is 10 x 6 x 10.
In 2002, Link-Belt introduced the
hydrostatic drive on a six-wheel carrier
