Cranes director of product planning and
marketing in North America.
Making its U.S. debut from Manitowoc
is the 165 metric ton capacity MLC165
lattice boom crawler crane. First shown
at the 2013 Bauma show in Germany, it
is designed for the global market. Jerry
Maloney, Manitowoc global product
director, said the MLC165 is a versatile
crane for contractors and rental houses.
“This self-rigging crane is very easy
to assemble and disassemble,” Maloney
said. “It can install and remove its own
counterweights and tracks without the
need for an assist crane. In addition, it has
a 10-foot component width and modular
assemblies for easy transport over the
road.”
Steven Dick, Manitowoc technical
sales support coordinator, said the
crane’s design makes it suitable for many
applications. “Our engineers designed the
MLC165 to facilitate general contractor
activities, like pile driving and moderate
clamshell or grapple work,” he said. “The
MLC165 is built to be a versatile tool.”
Maximum boom on the MLC165 is 84
meters and there are fixed and luffing
jib options. The maximum boom and
fixed jib combination is 93.4 meters.
The longest main boom and luffing jib
combination reach increases to 102.8
meters.
SANY AMERICA, SILVER LOT 3516
, will
show five models from its crawler and
rough terrain crane ranges, including the
SCC8150 and SCC8500 crawlers, both of
which were shown at Bauma last year in
Munich.
With a rated lifting capacity of 85 tons,
Sany will showcase its SRC885 rough-
terrain crane, which was introduced to
the U.S. market last summer. The SRC885
delivers lifting power, pick-and-carry
capability and operating stability on
virtually any jobsite, regardless of terrain,
the company said. The unit was designed
to combine value with ease of operation,
ease of maintenance and attention to
operator comfort and convenience. The
SANY SRC885 provides reach of up to
209.7 feet through a five-section, full-
power boom. It can achieve the rated
85-ton lifting capacity at a 10-foot radius.
With an overall weight of 115,880 pounds,
the SRC885 is well sized for a variety
of applications while still being easy to
transport.
The SRC885 features a Cummins
engine, Braden winches and hoists, a
Dana transmission and Parker hydraulics
satisfying the serviceability demands of
customers and dealers alike. The SRC885
achieves maneuverability and a smooth
ride through 4x4 hydraulic powered
steering and earthmover-style tires.
TADANO, GOLD LOT 2101
, will show
seven cranes from its rough terrain and
all-terrain ranges. The company plans
to significantly increase its presence at
ConExpo, according to Tadano America
President Yo Kakinuma.
“ConExpo provides the perfect venue to
showcase Tadano’s core values of safety,
quality and efficiency in our products
and services,” said Kakinuma. “Tadano
produces the highest quality and highest
value RTs and ATs in their classes. Our
goal at ConExpo is to give our dealers
and the end-users of our equipment the
opportunity to see for themselves the
attributes of our cranes and the intrinsic
quality built into these state-of-the-art
machines.”
ConExpo will be the first unveiling
of Tadano’s latest and largest RT, the
160-ton GR-1600XL-2. Two models
of this crane, introduced to the U.S.
market late last year, will be shown. Of
the two GR-1600XL-2 units, one will be
configured in the transportation mode
