SHOW GUIDE
and open pit mines where low ground-
bearing pressure, high capacity and
long reach are essential to meeting the
customers’ needs.
Among the most popular models in
the Manitex range is the new 70-ton
capacity TC700. After a private viewing
with Manitex dealers at Manitex’s 25th
anniversary in May 2013, and after months
of testing and continued enhancements,
Manitex will officially introduce the
TC700 to the public at ConExpo.
Manitex will also show off its new M150
cab down industrial crane, which has
experienced keen interest from the oil and
gas sector. The 15-ton crane is just over
11 feet tall, which makes it an ideal choice
in tight spaces. The low-profile crane
features four-wheel drive and four-wheel
steering; multiple boom configurations;
an ergonomically engineered two-door
cab with joystick controls; full LMI and
Anti-2-Block system; and integrated
features such as steps and handrails. It has
a 62.5-feet maximum boom length and
a maximum tip height of 85.5 feet when
equipped with the optional 20-foot jib.
NATIONAL CRANES, GOLD LOT 2137
(a
Manitowoc brand), will launch a pair of
boom trucks, including the largest ever
built by the company. The 60-ton capacity
NBT60’s 128-foot boom is claimed as the
longest in its class. Despite its size, the
NBT60 will still be roadable without the
need for additional permits in most parts
of North America.
Ruben Olivas, global product director
for truck cranes, boom trucks and carry
deck cranes at Manitowoc, explained that
these new National Crane models were
developed after conducting extensive
customer research.
“For these new National Crane models,
we asked customers what they really
wanted and needed,” Olivas said. “This
‘voice of the customer’ collaboration
resulted in boom trucks that will truly
meet the demands of the market,
whether it’s size, capacity, lifting power,
maneuverability or other advanced new
features.”
The new NBT60 features a 128-foot,
five-section, full-power boom, the longest
in its class, according to National. A
26- to 45-foot, two-section, offsettable
manual extension is also available for
the crane. Other features on the NBT60
include two-piece, hydraulically removable
counterweight slabs that can be stowed on
the front outrigger box to provide different
road configurations; ground level and
in-cab CanBus outrigger controls with a
new beam position sensing system that
aids the operator in selecting the right
load chart based on the crane’s outrigger
footprint; an X-shaped footprint that
eliminates the need for a single front
outrigger; and front bumper control
of the hoist(s) for quick road setup
configuration.
National’s new NBT15 series includes
the NBT14, NBT15 and NBT16. The three
models give customers more choices in the
10-ton to 18-ton capacity classes. All three
in the NBT15 series feature a 60-foot,
three-section boom, and a 22-foot single-
section jib is also available. The NBT14
offers a 14-ton capacity; the NBT15
provides a 15-ton capacity; and the NBT16
has a 16-ton capacity.
Manitowoc’s Shuttlelift CD5520
industrial pick and carry crane has
been redesigned, boasting the highest
capacity and longest reach in the class, the
manufacturer said. The 20-ton capacity
crane has an 18.5 to 54.5-foot, four-
section, full power boom. It is the first in a
new generation of industrial cranes.
Also available is the Grove Yardboss
YB5520, which has the same features and
specifications as the Shuttlelift CD5520,
and is available through Grove dealers. It
replaces the YB5518, while the CD5520
replaces the CD5560B. For the first
time on an industrial crane, Shuttlelift
is offering two jib options: a 15-foot
extension or a telescoping 15 to 25-foot
swingaway.
TEREX CRANES, GOLD LOT 1047
, has mostly
kept its ConExpo plans under wraps,
although it’s likely the company will show
the Crossover 8000, a new high-capacity,
truck-mounted telescopic crane that
reportedly will be the largest boom truck
in North America. It will be the first Terex
boom truck to have the new Terex crane
cabin.
PALFINGER, SILVER LOT 3311
, will release a
new crane concept in North America, the
PK 200002 L-SH. With this new model,
Palfinger has met the demand for greater
lifting capacity, higher reach and lower
dead weight, in addition to satisfying the
need for compact dimensions.
“Palfinger has answered the call for
superior outreach by developing a
long boom concept for the PK 200002
L-SH, the distinguishing feature of
this model,” said Greg Sneek, Palfinger
North America’s product manager for
articulating cranes. “A key highlight is
shown through a completely new and
exclusive boom profile system, engineered
by Palfinger to make the boom lighter,
stiffer and stronger.”
The Palfinger PK 200002 L-SH knuckleboom
crane will be shown as pictured on a
Western Star chassis.
National will debut three new boom
trucks in its NBT15 series.
