SHOW GUIDE
CONEXPO
frame with the RTC-80100 Series II.
Twelve years later, Link-Belt is adding
reach and capacity to its rough terrain
crane line with the new 150-ton RTC-
80150 Series II. Powered by a 345 hp
Cummins Tier 4f diesel engine, the RTC-
80150 Series II will debut for the first time
at ConExpo.
Also in the rough terrain crane class will
be Link-Belt’s 80-ton RTC-8080 Series II,
which rounds out Link-Belt’s line of mid-
range rough terrain cranes.
All new from Link-Belt in the telescopic
crawler market is the 50-ton capacity
TCC-500, which was built and tested at
the Lexington plant and will be shown
for the first time in Las Vegas. This is the
third crane in Link-Belt’s telecrawler line.
The TCC-500 features a 110-foot full-
power boom and a 50-ton capacity. It was
engineered to hit weight targets so that
it’s easy to transport. The four-section,
full-power boom uses high tensile steel
and is a box-type construction consisting
of one base section and three telescoping
sections. Fly jib options include a stowable
28.5 to 51 feet, two piece bi-fold lattice
fly, offsettable to 2, 20 and 40 degrees.
Maximum tip height is 165.5 feet. With a
standard counterweight package of 25,000
pounds, the TCC-500 transports in one
load while staying under 100,000 pounds.
On the trailer, the TCC-500 travels at a
height of 9 feet, 10.55 inches and a width
of 11 feet, 5.24 inches.
Link-Belt will also show the upgraded
200-ton 248 HSL crawler, which you can
read about in subsequent issues of
ACT.
Also being launched is the Link-Belt
Pulse Telematics Unit (PTU), which
is the result of a partnership between
Link-Belt and A1A Software. The new
system will be demonstrated at both
company’s stands. The PTU will be able
to monitor all of a crane’s operations,
providing upper and lower engine
information, diagnostics, GPS location
and crane faults. The PTU system will
be tied in with the Link-Belt Pulse total
crane operating system to help keep
track of how the crane is operating. The
telematics unit will communicate with
A1A’s computer server and can display
all the information collected on the A1A
iCraneTrax.com website, an equipment
and business management application.
iCraneTrax, (iCT) can control contact
and sales management (CRM), dispatch,
fleet management, documentation
management, certification management
and invoicing, plus a multitude of data
related to the operation of the crane. Link-
Belt wanted to go with a solution where
the crane owner could decide if, when and
what they wanted to share with Link-Belt
or its distributors.
MANITOWOC CRANES, GOLD LOT 2137
,
will feature some 12 cranes, give or take,
with eight of them brand new models.
Manitowoc said two of the new models
being launched would be “show stoppers.”
From the GMK all-terrain crane
range, the company will show two of
its most popular units: the GMK6300L
and GMK6400, two six-axle units with
capacities of 350 tons and 450 tons,
respectively. The GMK6300L offers a huge
262 foot main boom, while the GMK6400
offers strong lifting ability combined with
a series of award-winning innovations, the
company said.
Two Grove RTs will be making their
North American debut: the RT770E and
the RT540. The 70-ton RT770E offers
a boom reach of 138 feet, giving it an
advantage in the 60 to 70-ton capacity
category. Power for the RT770E is from a
6.7 liter Cummins diesel engine.
“We’re launching the RT770E into
probably the most popular capacity class,
so we knew we had to make it stand
out from the crowd, and with its boom
design I believe we’ve done that,” said
Paul Cutchall, RT product manager in
North America. “We were able to lengthen
the boom without adding more size and
weight to the chassis.”
The RT540 is an updated version of the
RT540E. It has the same 40 ton capacity
and 102 feet of boom. This crane features
the updated CCS operating system that
was introduced in 2013 and will be rolled
out across Manitowoc’s entire brand
platform. CCS has the same software and
uses a standard set of displays, joysticks,
control units and a jog dial that simplifies
maintenance and fleet management.
“The intuitive and easy-to-use system
reduces the need to train people on every
crane we produce, so contractors and
operators can move between crane models
with ease,” said Mike Herbert, Manitowoc
