CPDemolition is currentlyworking
on the stripout of the former
headquarters of theUK’sCentral
Officeof Information,HerculesHouse, in
Lambeth, London. Thenine storey structure is
tobe converted into a438bedhotel.
KCP isdemolishing and removing the
internal stairways, officepartitions,HVAC
systems and internal and externalwall
cladding toprovide a structure that,with the
additionof a five storey extension,will provide
the framework for thenew four starhotel.
Given the tight confines of thebuilding
and its internal pillars,KDChashired in the
services of oneof twoBobcat S450 skid steer
loaders that areownedbyUK rental outfit
RhinoPlantHirebased inBrentwood. These
are the firstmodels of thisBobcatmachine to
beoperating in theUK. The2,240kg (4,928
lb) S450 is beingusedbyKCP to collect and
remove all thedebris that is resulting from the
internal demolitionwork.
One of the first twoBobcat S450 skid steers in theUK,
owned by rental operationRhinoPlant, is in actionwith
KCPDemolition at HerculesHouse in central London, UK
arrayon its roof and stands two storeys tall,
with0.6m (2 ft) thick reinforced concrete
ceilings and floors, and concretewalls that in
places areup to1m (3.3 ft) thick. Thework
is part of eight contracts thatMGL is engaged
inonbehalf ofCarillionEnterprise, an
industrypartner of theDefence Infrastructure
Organisation, which is theUKMinistryof
Defence’s property and services provider.
Theperformance of theRotar/Liebherr
combo is such thatMGL’s personnel have
alreadynicknamed theRotar tool as the
‘special one’.
ARotar RDP42 pulveriser recently acquired byMGL
Demolition had its first outing to remove aWWII
vintage radar facility at RAF Boulmer
