One highlight on the Komatsu standwas a new
short radiuswheeled excavator, the PW148-10,
which is powered by an EU Stage IIIB emissions
certified Komatsu SAA4D107E-2 engine. Komatsu
has designed amore environmentally-friendly
engine that increases powerwhile decreasing
fuel consumption.With operatingweights ranging
between 13.7-15.6 tonnes, the new excavator
offers a net 90 kW (121 hp) at 2,000 rpm and
ismore fuel-efficient than its predecessor,
depending on the application and conditions.
This improved efficiency comes in part from the
variable-flow turbocharger that provides optimal
airflow under all speeds and load conditions.

New on the Brokk stand at Intermat
was the 240 kg (529 lb) Darda CC430
concrete crusher, which replaces the
CC420. It is designed for use with the
Brokk 160 robot or withmini excavators
weighing from2.5 to 4.8 tonnes.
Despite its compact dimensions it has
a crushing force of up to 382 kN (38
tons) and an jaw opening of 431mm (17
inches).When equipped with additional
teeth a crushing force of 675 kN (68.8
tons) can be achieved. It offers 25%
higher productivity through new cutting
tips and optimised hydraulics, more stable
cover plates, improved protection of
hydraulic hoses, greater jaw opening width
and longer wear bushing service life.

One of the star attractions on theHitachi ConstructionMachinery (Europe)NV (HCME) stand at Intermatwas
a special edition14.4-15 tonne, 126 kW (169 hp) ZW180-5wheeled loaderwith a bucket capacity of 2.4-

challengingworking conditions. Both cylinders and cab feature FOG guards to protect them from damage and
two belly guards (front and rear) are fitted underneath themachine to safeguard vital components, such as the
driveshaft and powertrain respectively.
